Mabel Picotte

Mabel Picotte is Ihanktonwan and Oglala Sioux. She obtained her BA in English with an emphasis in creative writing from the University of Minnesota, Morris. She is employed by the East Dakota Educational Cooperation at the Chamberlain Academy site, where she teaches high school level language arts, readers theatre, and American Indian studies.

Mabel has published poems in Bluffton College’s Shalith, Intercultural Times, and Dakota Wesleyan University’s Prairie Winds. She is the 2010 featured poet of Darkling Magazine, a South Dakota literary journal.
